2008 FIA WORLD TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP
The world title is SEAT Sport's goal this season

After five years of constant progress at the European and FIA WTCC championships, SEAT is determined to win the 2008 WTCC World Touring Car Championship.

After last season's technical and racing successes, the SEAT Sport team has demonstrated its expectations of winning the manufacturers' title, while the drivers have proved their chances at winning the drivers' title.

So both titles are the goal for 2008, and the team has been working all winter in order to start off the new season in the best possible conditions.

SEAT made history with the León TDI

The enormous challenge SEAT Sport faced halfway through the 2007 season with the introduction of the new SEAT León TDI was rewarded with successful results. The first victory by a diesel engine at a FIA World Championship will remain forever in SEAT's history, and finishing runners-up in the driver and manufacturer category was thanks to the new car.

For this reason, the SEAT León TDI will be the official SEAT Sport car at the upcoming WTCC edition, and will be driven by Jordi Gené, Tiago Monteiro, Yvan Muller, Rickard Rydell, who's returning to the team after being a part from 2004 to 2006 and Gabriele Tarquini, each one a winner of touring car races with the necessary experience to guarantee the team's competitieness.

Starting in Curitiba, Brazil, on 2 March and finishing in Macau, China on 16 November, the current edition of the WTCC features a total of 24 races in 12 meetings, and includes the return of Mexico to the calendar and a race in Japan, which makes the event even more international.

The SEAT León Eurocup, a new travelling companion

SEAT's involvement in touring car events will be strengthened in 2008 with the first edition of the SEAT León Eurocup, the European edition of the Supercopa. With this initiative, SEAT becomes the first and only brand to offer is drivers the possibility to participate on all levels at touring car events - national, continental and world.

A SEAT driver can begin at his country's national races (the SEAT León Supercopa is held in Spain, UK, Germany, Italy and Hungary), go on to the European edition and even race at the WTCC, which is one of the prizes offered to the winner of the Eurocup, and the European Cup, which is reserved for the final winner.

There will be six SEAT León Eurocup meetings. The races will be broadcast live by Eurosport, together with the WTCC races held in Spain, France, UK, Portugal, Germany and Italy. Racing on the same tracks and at the same time as the WTCC will be a great incentive for all drivers.
